Neighbourhood Watch in Spain was first started in Torrevieja in 1999 by ex UK Police officers and residents. Rapidly it grew throughout the Costa Blanca and beyond. It is a legally constituted association under Spanish Law and is fully registered in Madrid with the authorities. We are a voluntary association set up to combat local crime by working with the Policia Local and Guardia.
Currently it has over 1450 Coordinators and covers 2,500,00 households in 55 different locations in the provinces of Alicante, Murcia, Almeria & Andalucía.
What is Neighbourhood Watch in Spain.
We are a totally voluntary organisation with NO political affiliation
We watch our neighbourhood, NOT our neighbours
We do NOT patrol the streets
Membership is free, although when starting a new branch there are setup costs which are shared.
Most crime is opportunist, committed on the spur of the moment, or when a car or a house is left unlocked. This means there is enormous scope for reducing chances for the criminals.

Membership can be via a branch or as an individual with urgent information being made available via a News Alert system.
We also work with Companies to provide special rates for services for registered members of Neighbourhood Watch in Spain.
